How often families attended school events or meetings over the past year
-
Family engagement in their child’s school events and meetings encourages better student engagement with the school, their peers, and their classes as well as provides opportunities for two-way communication between families and school administration and educators. This indicator tracks how often families engage with their child’s school in Central Falls through events or meetings. The data in this indicator comes from the SurveyWorks questionnaire that goes to students, educators, and families every year.

With student outcomes being the focus of most state and national reporting, improving child engagement in classrooms can contribute to better performance. Encouraging communities to engage with the school more frequently can help close gaps and improve equity for students. By tracking family attendance to events and meetings, and breaking that data up by things like race and ethnicity we can also see if certain groups in the community are not engaging as often as others. This could point to communities who feel less connected to the schools and provide areas of focus for the district to focus on.
